blue and battered, edges frayed
ink-stain smattered
pages splayed and binding broken
countless smudges
whorls and ridges dragged across
an angst-gray face
unending bridges
to former grudges and old lost lovers
within the covers
which now encase those long unspoken
thought transfusions
dripping crimson through confusions
